Old Rasputin Imperial Russian Stout is, quite possibly, the best "dark" beer I have had. Not only do I have a funny feeling in my pants, but it kisses me sweetly with each sip.

When I read the BJCP guideline for RIS I thought I'd hate the style, so I never tried it. Then I went to a local beer bar and had Old Rasputin on nitro. It was an epiphany.

It's truly an excellent stout, but even it can't hold a candle to Rogue RIS or Oskar Blues Ten-Fidy.

I have to disagree with the Oskar blues part only, I bought a can of that (for the super fair price of 4 bucks :( ) and thought as I drank, "this is dark LME, just underpitched. That beer came off waaay to sweet and syrupy for me, more for everyone else. Considering Old Rasputin is 10.99 a 4 pack, and tastes as good as it does, is almost a miracle.

Bleh...hate that beer. That's not the direction I would take a RIS. I like Victory Storm King.
