Hello I'm fairly new to home brewing and I'm interested in making wine. I've been brewing beer for half a year now and feel like I have a good understanding of the process. Now I'm wanting to make some wine and I'd like to know any major differences in the 2 processes. And what books or other websites you would recommend. Thanks in advance for the help and advice.

Wine making is a lot simpler, you don't have to worry about long, temperature controlled mashes to convert starches to sugars, or long boils with hop additions, etc. All the sugar is already available in the juice, and/or added to the must itself directly.

What kind of wine do you want to make? Traditional red/white types, country wines (strawberry, blueberry, dandelion, etc), meads, etc?

My first wine book was "Making Wild Wines and Meads" because I was more interested in country wines, herbs, flowers, and honey than traditional red/white wines.

I think I'm going to try my hand at country wines for now. I'm currently fermenting a carrot wine that I got the recipe on this forum. I didn't realize that wine could be made out of so many different things.

I second the "making wild wines..." book. It is awesome. I never buy books, but I bought a copy. The recipies are great and spark lots of ideas. The CJJ Berry book is good, but a bit outdated too.

Wildman, I'm new to winemaking to and a book that helped me and is easy to read is Enjoy Home Winemaking by Robert and Eileen Frishman its usally only a few dollars about anywhere you look. This site is also really helpful.
