Going to the Masters in April, need ideas for our trip to the South!

Hey guys and gals, My brother and I are going to the Masters in April. It is becoming a bit of a tradition and we like to make it a week of golfing, brewery hopping, more golf, more beer...all forms debauchery in general

I'm not very familiar with the South but I think we're looking into North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Alabama...We will consider it all if it has enough to keep us entertained for a few days! Last year we went to Asheville, NC to check out the scene (in all honesty I wouldn't mind going back, that town is amazing!).

So, I'm calling out to this wonderful community and seeking advice from others who live in the area, are familiar with it or just know of some breweries/golf courses/cool attractions we shouldn't miss! As always, thanks again for all of your help!

Lots going on in Atlanta these days. By the time the Masters rolls around, Mitch Steele's place in town will be open. Several breweries are building locations along the Beltline, a trail that runs around 20 miles (IIRC) around the downtown area. Add in some of the great brewpubs like Wrecking Bar and Torched Hop, and you could spend a few days in Atlanta. That's not to mention a bunch of the up and coming breweries in the suburbs like Burnt Hickory, Reformation, Jekyll etc.

Augusta has 2 breweries: Savannah River Brewing and Riverwatch Brewing

Charleston SC is well worth a couple days to see the sights there - neatest town I've been to E of the Mississippi.

Hotel room in Augusta, GA is really expensive during the master week. I would recommend staying the next town closer to it, traffic is really bad too.

The River walk is very interesting area, take your time to explore the area during your visit.

As far as Alabama goes, the Robert Trent Jones Trail is pretty darn nice. I am especially partial to Grand National in Auburn/Opelika. Do not pass up playing the short course after a round on either the Links or Lake courses. It is a bear of a par-three course that criss-crosses Lake Saugahatchee.

It's about 1:30 drive from ATL airport.

You might consider Dunedin Fl. It's just north of Clearwater Beach. Besides being a wonderful town, and in addition to all the nice things to do in a coastal florida town, there are about 20 breweries. If you start at Dunedin Brewery, you can walk to about 5 or 6 of them, as well as a distillery. The rest are a bicycle ride away. Quite a ways from Augusta though.
