I am headed over to Georgia for a few days and I want to pick up some beer that I can not buy in Alabama. I know I'm going to get some Chimay and something from Stone but anyone have any other suggestions? In Alabama we can not buy anything over 6% or anything in large bottles, I know it sucks.

Can you get Sweetwater? It's brewed in ATL and their IPA is one of my favorites. All of their brews are superb.

Terrapin brewed in Athens, GA has great beer as well. Their Rye Squared is a nice Imperial Rye Pale ale.

I feel bad for you Alabama and Utah people not getting access to a full range of the great bee the world has to offer. Stupid outdated religious laws. The last two states I have lived in have both given up alcohol related blue laws and have allowed for sales on Sundays. I'm kind of the beer messiah in that way:rockin:

Can't buy beer today, but...

Sweetwater has their Festive Ale out right now, I reccomend. Terrapin has a special project release "Gamma Ray" it is a big, sweet hefeweizen-like beer. I have recently seen the Anchor Christmas Ale out, been meaning to pick it up. Sierra Nevade Celebration. Full Sail recently hit the shelves, I tried their Wassail, it is pretty good. Yeungling just started distributing here too, if you are interested.

I can't think of anything else that is new around here.

Speaking of the Anchor Christmas Ale, anybody have this year's yet? They have 1.5L bottles at my store and was thinking of picking one up.

Yeah i've tried it. I can't compare it previous years as this is the first year i've tried this brew. Review is belowe, for what its worth:

Pours a very dark brown, frothy head with great lacing. Smell is predominately cinnamon and clove. Tastes of cinnamon, clove and pine needles throughout, nice bitterness at the end. Finishes dry. Not as malty and creamy as i was expecting, but good nonetheless.

A very sessionable winter warmer. Spices are just right, not too overpowering. Fairly light but still very good mouthfeel. I am currently brewing a beer similar to this one, hopefully it comes out just as good.
