A year after all of this and I'm just wondering if anything ever got made, quoted for production, or even sketched. I think the demijohn idea would work with different fittings to accommodate the larger opening. But it's a tad too big and I don't see similarly shaped smaller ones. I'd suppose that a 5 or 6 gallon carboy only redesigned with the proper sloped shoulders should alleviate the larger problem. With the same circumference of the neck, opening, and base it would also be compatible with all other carboy accessories. And it shouldn't cost that much after the mold is taken care of.
