Hello everyone,

Well, I have been bitten by the homebrewing bug. I just finished getting my Ph.D. and my brain is still working, so I thought that I would pick up homebrewing. I helped my roommate in college brew a number of times, so while I am a noob at it myself, I'm not totally green.

I do however, need all of the stuff to get started, and while I know that there are a bunch of pre-made kits out there, I figured that I would try to piece the parts that I need together.

First off I'd like the following:

30qt or larger stainless steel pot (with spigot if possible)
Glass carboy's (5 gallon and 6-6.5 gallon)
wort chiller
ball-lock kegs (or complete setup with regulator and CO2 tanks)
propane turkey fryer type grille

If anyone in the Central Virginia area has some of this stuff, or any of the other basic stuff not listed here that I will need, please let me know.

Thanks,
Paul

Glass carboys are not a must, unless you want to do secondary aging. Otherwise, you can get Food Grade Buckets for fermenting. I would get larger than 30qt, that was the size of pot I used for awhile, and it was pushed to it's limit for 5 and 6 gallon batches. Try and do 10 gallon minimum.

In addition to kegs/regulator/co2 tank, you need a fridge or freezer with temp control setup.

Do you plan on bottling at all, if so, then you will need more equipment as well. Please let us know exactly your plans on brewing/bottling/kegging.
