I will probably get a lot of flak for this, but I like watching bullfights and the running of the bulls in pamplona on TV.

Not for the reason everyone else does, though. No, since I know nothing I can say or do will stop such a lovely spiritual tradition as setting a bunch of terrified animals "loose" until they can be corralled, tortured, agitated, disrespected and then killed for the amusement of onlookers, I might as well get some enjoyment out of it.

Just yesterday I saw some mongoloid ******* in man-capris wave his little cape in front of a young bull who had been slowed through the use of jauntily decorated swords in his spine (you know, to make it more sporting), and the unnamed creature did the unexpected, much to my delight.

Jorge, as I have dubbed him, literally jammed a 3 foot horn up the guy's ass. I am not exaggerating. Then, this is great by the way, he circled, got a head start, and then did a merry little dance on the matador's head as well as his stupid hat.

Thats entertainment right there.

So, I'm not going to begin to even try to get this wonderful "sport" outlawed... what with it being steeped in ancient tradition and religion... I'm just proposing they name the bulls. This way, I can root for them.

RIP Jorge, we barely knew ye. I know one guy in particular is never going to forget you, seeing as how he left you with part of his colon :rockin:

We are on the same page, Creamy. OLE! Seeing the bipedal idiots taunting & torturing extremely agitated bovines for "sport" is not my thing...
UNLESS the bipeds are getting gored, tossed, trampled, spindled, stapled & otherwise mangled; now THAT'S a sport!

Maybe we should substitute cape buffalo or rhinoceros for the bulls. Or better yet, how about Lions? Or even apes with guns! Or the best yet, Bullfighters vs. condemned criminals, equally armed & fighting for a reprieve. I'd watch that on pay-per-view.
Regards, GF.

I believe that bull fighting is a hold over of harsher times. It was very common at one point to be entertained by watching a criminal dangle from a noose. As we have matured as a society we have eliminated a lot of questionable "sports" except when bulls are concerned. I don't hate it as much as you guys but I certainly don't respect it either.

I think there are few things as disgusting as the torture of animals in this fashion. Among them, though, would be wishing that same kind of pain and suffering upon a fellow human being. As awful as the "sport" of bullfighting is, finding actual humour and pleasure in seeing another person being put through that speaks volumes to a person's humanity.

Well I guess resurrecting the ancient gladiatorial games using condemned criminals as gladiators, fighting for a commutation is out of the question...
There goes my multinational pay-per-view deal.

I've put lots of thought into this since I started the thread taking Homers thoughts into account and I got to say... I'm sticking to this one. When terrible things happen to terrible people, particularly when they are doing terrible things it is enjoyable to watch. I don't think my humanity has taken any hits here.

I'm with you. And I'll go a step further.

What percentage of bullfights end with the bull "winning"? .25%? .1%?

Those aren't Mike Tyson / Evander Holyfield odds. Those are Mike Tyson / Michael Bolton odds. Hardly sporting.

I say they even it up a bit. Put two bulls in the ring with the toreador... Now that'll be entertaining!

I thought they did name the bulls? I believe Lamborghini names its cars after bulls that killed famous matadors...maybe it's just urban legend.

Never seen one, don't think I could watch.

They put bullfights on TV? Running of the Bulls is on TV? I can torrent this? Wow!

I learn the funniest things from the beer crowd. :D
