I am looking to make a gingerbread ale based on the instructions in Radical Brewing for this holiday season. I like Browns, Porters, and Stouts... Any idea on which would be best to use as a base for this? Also any ideas on a basic extract with steeping grains recipe to use within that style? I don't want to do something big and bold that's going to overpower the spice flavors, but still want something with enough flavor & moderate strength to be a solid brew. That probably doesn't help too much but any advice is appreciated!

Funny I have that subscribed to try it.. Maybe I'll try the spices in half batches of that & the Deception Cream Stout

well i'm going to try the brown ale straight first then if i like it enough, i will make the gingerbread ale to give out at xmas.

I don't think you're going to go wrong with either
