My tea wine is ready to bottle. I have no idea what posessed me but I figured I'd try to get it a bit more clear as it had a few floaties but the clarity was great. I mixed up some gelatin finings and poured in it late last night with the intention of bottling tonight or tomorrow. When I poured in the gelatin it looked like I poured milk in. Today my clear wine looks like crap, all milky looking and hazy.

I just read on another site:
"DO NOT use more finings than the instructions on the bottle say to use. Too much, and the gelatin will stay suspended in the wine instead of sinking. The result is a cloudier wine than before the finings were added. Go through the fining process twice rather than using double the quantity."
— Roxanne's Wine Making Glossary
Maybe that is what happened to your wine. Maybe you could try this:
KIESOLSOL: Soluble Silica Gel
The site said that this gets used in conjunction with gelatin for haze. You do the gelatin first and then this stuff. I have no idea if that will work or not because I have never used either product.

nope usd what was called for....still looks like I poured milk in it.

How much tea did you use? One of the other things gelatin does is bind tannins.
hmmmmmm maybe you are onto something. I steeped 60 tea bags to make the 5 gallons. is there ANYTHING That I can do to clear this back out? It was stupid to put it in in the first place as the wine was clear.

thanks yoop.. I can always count on you for answers:mug:

Hi, did waiting a week or two help? I ended up with the same problem with my strawberry wine. I read somewhere to add the higher recommended quantity to make the pectic sink. Since I made mine with fruit and it was kind of thick I used the highest recommended dose. It worked wonderfully for the pectin - I now have an almost one inch think
layer of gel at the bottom, but my wine is all cloudy now :(
