We're still almost $3 up here in the NE. I read online today where they said they expected prices to drop down to the low $2 by Thanksgiving. I'll believe it when I see it.

I didn't look today but it dipped below 3 bux here in the Chicago area for the first time in ages. Yesterday I saw $2.97

between Sept 15 and Thanksgiving the forecast is for regular gas to be between $2.00 - $2.50

:off: Funny that Bush is calling everyone a fascist nowadays (new buzzword for the GOP according to CNN).

I googled the definition for fascism: A social and political ideology with the primary guiding principle that the state or nation is the highest priority, rather than personal or individual freedoms.

Hmmm, sounds just like Bush's domestic policy...

...end of rant...

Crude oil prices aren't down THAT much. The beneign hurricane season is helping, but methinks that the investigation into potential price manipulation by BP may also be - somehow - at work behind the scenes. I don't tend to believe in collusion, but it makes me wonder if companies are being a LITTLE less aggressive in their pricing to keep the DOJ at bay.

I dunno what's behind the drop, but it's better than the 3.35/gal I was paying...

I make a point not to fill up at any Exxon-Mobil stations or BP stations...though I'm sure some of the gas I pump at the mom/pop stores comes directly from them...

I wouldn't get my hopes up about the forecast for something so unpredictable. After all, geopolitical events are a big factor in the price of crude oil. Who knows, in a few months, we could be planning to invade another OPEC country.

I'm lucky enough to work about 2-3 miles from home, so I just ride a bicycle. My SWMBO and I have two vehicles, but I like to make those the back up mode of transportation. It only saves me about $30 a month, but it is also good exercise, and I don't have to control my road rage :D

In order to, hopefully, ease on the increasing fuel costs, I also invested a small percentage of my portfolio in an exchange traded fund (ETF) that tracks Texas crude oil. It doesn't mirror gasoline prices exactly, but at least if/when gas prices go up, I won't be hit as hard.

Actually, the price of crude is all guesswork by a panel of "experts" who speculate on world situations and play "what-if" games.

If the "what-if" doesn't happen everybody (in the oil industry) makes money...great game if you can afford to play it.;)

Well, that's a little incomplete, no?

Webster says: a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition.

Islamofascism is an accurate term. This comparison of the opponents of the war in Iraq and those who appeased Hitler is not.....

I don't like Bush at all. Too "big" of gov't, way too much spending etc. etc. However, he's far from a fascist.

Gas station owners make very little on gasoline. Regardless of what gasoline you buy, you're going to be giving almost all of your money to Big Oil. They all use the same gasoline (all use the same pipelines, etc.), just different additives.

A mere $6.70 per gallon at the pumps today in UK by comparison.....

Diesel is still going up, $3.57 last I checked. I suspect it will continue to go down in the red states until after the elections.

Ok so now I checked it out today.... whoopsie... its now up to $3.08 today, go figure.

$2.58 @ Costco 89octane

They're doing a whole series on selling hot gas in AZ.
Gas is measured in gallons at 60 degrees.
Our gas averages 82.
We end up paying $115 million more

Nationally, hot fuel could cost motorists an estimated $2.3 billion in 2006, by at least one estimate.

Minnesota... has an average fuel temperature of 53 degrees, and its consumers pay $37 million less annually for gas.

Don't even get me started on tolls.... Now they have it so if you don't have I-pass they charge you double for each toll. Yeah, real fair.
