Forgot we just had a tasting but here is what I have right now that isn't available here:

- Golden Delicious
- Nor'easter
Three Floyds Darklord 2007
Portsmouth Barleywine 2009
Bell's Batch 9000 (not sure if any made it to Fl but as far as I know it didn't.)

At the tasting we opened:
Portsmouth Kate the Great 2010
Surly Darkness
Foothills Sexual Chocolate
Pigash Vortex II
Founders Kentucky Breakfast Stout 2010 and 2008
New England Brewing Imperial Stout Trooper

I ran across this post from the Gainesville Craigslist:

"Keg tap/CO2 rig - $50 (downtown gainesville)
I am selling all the components necessary to convert your refrigerator into a dispenser of cold delicious beer. Included is a standard US tap, double gauge regulator, 5lb. CO2 bottle, faucet knob, and skank. All you need is a refrigerator with enough room for a keg and a drill to make the hole for the skank.
"

I might go $50 on that package, especially with the skank included (if the wife was out of town).

Having an impromptu brewday tonight. Very happy, since I didn't think I'd get the chance until next month at the earliest. Making a light, refreshing wheat beer with a touch of honey at about 4% ABV.

Just brewed one of those up Wednesday night:

5# Pilsen Malt
1.7# Vienna
3.3# German Wheat

.5 oz Cascade at 60
.5 oz Cascade at 15

WLP380 Yeast

OG was 1.047, Brewpal said it should have been 1.053, but I don't really trust it.

Hey I'm looking to buy a fermentation fridge and came across this on CL:

Anything I should be concerned about, beside it running? Anybody know how much of the hump in the bottom/back of the fridge I can take out if necessary to fit a bucket/carboy?

That's where the compressor is... you can't take any out

what you can do is keep the shelf in or put some books next to the hump so the carboy can sit on the hump/books

you can also take out the shelving on the door. It's easy. Just flip the seal back and you'll see the screws. I've done this to 2 fridges, you just have to caulk the seal back on.

Groovy. I'll be looking at that fridge this weekend. I really think it'll help my beers to have real fermentation control. The swamp cooler method doesn't work as well for me as I'd like.

Just tasted the wit beer in the keg after 2 days at 12 PSI. Wow! It's going to be fantastic when it's fully carbed. I got so excited that I upped it to 30 PSI and shook the keg for a few minutes. I'll taste again tomorrow or Sunday.

Got a hefe to keg today, sometime.

Yup. I see what you're talking about.

I took the shelves & seal out in one piece and just cut out the shelves to keep the plastic frame for the seal. It screwed right back into place. Got the fridge running now on max to see how cold it gets. Next I'll hook up the temp controller and BOYAH I'll be done.

Not quite ready to make real lagers yet but I think I'll try making some pseudo-lagers with Kolsch yeast next.

I might be getting a 55 gallon whiskey barrel soon... going to be brewing some back to back 11 gallon batches to fill it over the course of a month or so. I better like THAT beer when I decide on the recipe. Might just do my infected brown ale to start with.

Winter Haven, Florida Distillers. I called to find out about the small barrels they have at Swamp Head but the lady said the only ones she knows about are 55 gallons and they are $8 each. I'm going to call back sometime this week and hopefully get a different person and find out if this is correct.

I was going to get however many we can get in to the bed of the truck. I'll let you know what happens and anyone else who is interested.

If this is true and there is an extra space on the truck, I'm definitely up for a barrel.

I just called again and no one answered, hopefully they will call me back today as I could probably go down there tomorrow morning.

$8 each, 55 gallons. She didn't know what type of oak and they will probably need to be sanitized.

I told her I would try to go down next Friday and she told me to be there before noon with cash in hand.

Oh man, brewed up two batches last night with my friend Cami. She chills her beer, puts it in a glass carboy and takes it home. The carboy somehow slipped out of the brew hauler as she's walking down her sidewalk. GLASS & BEER EXPLOSION. Thankfully, nobody got cut.
