This morning I woke up and the house was damn cold. The thermostat was reading 55 didn't change much, but it was probably at that temp for at least 6 and no more that 10 hours before the furnace was refired. With my carboy sitting in the closet it's alway a few degrees cooler in there. Would that change in the temp have time to affect the fermentation. Oh I forgot to mention that the carboy has been sitting in the closet now for almost a week.

You should be fine. About a month ago, I was in Columbus overnight for a brew fest. When I came home, the house was at 48 F...thermometer read 58 in basement. My IPA had been in the primary for a week at the time. I already hit my FG & the few samples I've had since have been great. I'm cracking my first one this weekend, but all signs up to this point indicate it's still gonna be a solid brew.

At this point in the fermentation, there isn't much you can do but get the house warmed up again. You might think about placing a small floor heater in the closet in case this happens again in the future. I would check gravity of the beer and maybe give it a few extra days before racking to your bottling bucket or keg to allow the yeast some time for clean up.

After a week, the initial fermentation is likely over with. I think it would be fine. Let it warm back up and the yeast will start doing their thing again.
