I have traditionally done AG batches as that is what I was taught when I started. I did two partial mash batches last night for a friend and really enjoyed the ease of brewing that way.

I have seen a lot of BIAB threads that are usually doctored to work due to small pot sizes, but I have full keggles, so boil size is not an issue.

Can BIAB be done with the full volume of water needed for the batch without needing to sparge? I am thinking just heat the 7 or so gallons to strike temp, add the full grain-bill in a bag, mash for the needed time, pull grains out, squeeze excess from bag, then start the boil.

Would this work?

Thanks!

Absolutely. A lot of people do that. You just mash in your full volume + boiloff + grain absorption.

FYI there is a specific BIAB forum section.

If you mill your grains really fine like you can for BIAB but don't sparge, you probably won't get over about 80% efficiency. :fro:

That's the whole idea of BIAB. KISS----- Keep It Simple Stupid...... Great system do it all the time for my 2 gallon batches. Running close to 80% eff.
