I have some left over Fuggles and Chinook pellets from other brews. They are still fresh and I like to use them for a small batch of beer. All my fermenters are in use except a 5 liter glass fermenter.

Fuggles and Chinook are not really a popular combination. Why? I have put them both in a bowl and they smell great together. So I figure it will make a killer beer.

Next question is which recipe to use. This small amount I could even do all grain in my slow-cooker. My LHBS is open on Sunday as well, so I can get fresh grains tomorrow. Input very welcome.

I am thinking to use Maris Otter as a base malt.

Can somebody share a simple recipe?

(never did all grain before)

I'd do a simple bitter, aim near 5ABV -

MO for the base at 90%, C40 at 5%, C80 at 5%, bitter with Chinook and put Fuggles in the aroma. Mash at 153 and pitch any English strain.

Thank you, I found also some smash recipes after doing more research. Never heard of smash method before, all new to me. Before asking questions I will just read some more.

Here is one I call as MATH (Mash And Two Hops).

I recently made a Chinook IPA that I think was great. Don't see why a little Fuggles would not be fine in it. This was a 2.5 gal batch. I did my bittering with Magnum but you could use Chinook.

I used gelatin when I cold crashed and it is a very light colored, clear beer. I really like the grain base and have used it for a Fuggles IPA, Citra IPA, Centennial IPA and have an Amarillo and Cascade IPAs on deck.
