This bar came with the house that we moved into about a year ago. We finally want to start kegging, but this bar makes it difficult. We want to avoid going through the wall, but it is possible if we have to.

We have no problem dismantling the framework and reconstructing it to fit the freezer (that sink isn't hooked up anyway). Since we want 4 taps, running two mini fridges wouldn't be very energy efficient.

We'd like a front opening freezer, but haven't found any luck on Craigslist and aren't about to pay commercial MSRP for one. A chest freezer on wheels would work, but the carpet is new and with a full keezer, it'll be tough to move.

My other half is an HVAC Tech, so we are open to any suggestions here.

Ideas for a front opening keezer that fits 4 corny kegs?

Excuse the under bar mess/homebrew storage area.

Many of the kegorators that are designed to hold a half barrel will hold 4 cornys. Mine is an old commercial Beverage-Air unit I got cheap off CL with a bad thermostat.

Hoping somebody that knows more about this can chime in here but...
If you found the right sized chest freezer iv wondered about just laying it on its side. Id assume you would have to remount the compressor so its right side up. Anybody tried this?

The cheapest BA unit I've seen, and one of the only ones, was $1,000 and 1.5 hours from me. http://boston.craigslist.org/nos/app/4196562138.html

The only other I've seen was a top sliding door style for $650 and it's 2" too shallow inside to fit cornies. http://newlondon.craigslist.org/app/4172893732.html

Also, just found this, but it runs R12 refrigerant, which is the most obsolete kind. You can replace with newer style, but the R12 compressors are super energy hogs. http://worcester.craigslist.org/for/4183206067.html

My HVAC other half said it'd be a pain in the ass (haha), plus, would stick out too far. Our bar isn't too deep.

That's the one I have. I know it's not super efficient but it works just fine. I keep 4 cornys in it. I also have a fermentation fridge and another fridge to keep cold kegs on deck.

I know utility costs range wildly from one place to another but my electric bills are 40-50 a month so whatever small amount my 3 fridges (not counting the kitchen) make up of that bill are not worth the crazy expense of a newer kegorator
