I was looking at some of the local Frigidare/Kenmore freezers and noticed the four corners have this raised part unlike the GE's and Holidays I've seen. Any of you have problems with air leaks or whatever from these raised corners when adding collar?

Thanks as always HBT!

compare their energy use ratings, that will tell you how well they do overall and will give you an inkling of an answer. Even if it does cause a small air leak if the Kenmore has a more efficient compressor lowering the overall energy use then who cares. As well, cold air sinks so minute gaps at the top will hardly impact anything.

+1 to weatherstripping - It seals up just fine on mine.

Mine isn't even attached! just the weight of the wood and lid is enough to keep everything nice and tight.

Crappy pic - But you can see the 3/8" thick foam rubber weatherstripping below the 2x4.
