Weihenstephaner. Good Beer.

All politics aside, I'm really enjoying getting re-acquainted with disc one of Neil Young and Crazy Horses' "Weld". It's been quite a while.

One of my goals for 07' is to listen to more music. I've been sorely lacking for a while. So all suggestions are welcome. I'm going to cruise thru some nuggets in my library, but am looking for suggestions, no matter what genre. (ok, country is pushing it for me) But believe me, both new and old are welcome. :rockin:

"Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots" by The Flaming Lips. This is still the best album of the decade in my opinion.

Cool Cheese. :rockin:

The Vaughan Bros' "Family Style" is going in next. Somehow I have never listened to this disc. If I have, I was drunk, and well, the brain cells ain't what they used to be... :drunk:

Try the new cd from Blue October. I have been obsessing with a few songs on the album, no bad songs IMO. Kind of a mix between The Cure and Pink Floyd.

Cool, Cool. I've always been a Floyd fan, and came to appreciate The Cure from my oldest's Mom.

Got stuck in Donald Fagen mode for a bit tho. Put in "Kamakiriad" and kept backtracking. Such a GREAT disc if you like him solo OR Steely Dan.

Matthew Sweets' "Girlfriend" in the game now tho... Page and Plant on deck.... :drunk:

All great bands.

I've heard of Crystal Method, The Go! Team and Ween. But haven't heard them.

Added to the list. :rockin:

Safe investments:

Go! Team: Lightning, Thunder, Crash
Ween: Chocolate & Cheese

Safe purchases, great albums. I've yet to meet anyone who's heard both and didn't like them. Ween's "The Pod" or GodWeenSatan are different stories. They're an acquired taste.

I've tried getting into them, esp. as they're fellow Okies. I bought that CD a while back, and I just don't get it. I mean it's not bad, but not something I can get into. Maybe I'll throw it in again soon, and see what I think. Odd how some albums suck the first few times you listen to them, but you hit one just right, and becomes a lifelong favorite.

Thanks for the honest appraisal Cheese. Methinks the only good music store in town may be seeing me again tomorrow....

Late night (don't ask why;) ) shift into Phish mode, I'd also rather not hear the bitching from upstairs due to Urge Overkills' "Saturation" at a so-called unreasonable volume. (ok, it's a bit up there)

I've been a big fan of Phishs' "Rift" for a long time and haven't listened to "A Picture of Nectar" for a long time, but damn it's a goodie....

Mars Volta

I saw Mars Volta open for System of a Down. They were crazy. At times during their performance I thought they were absolutely terrible and then three bars later in the same song I thought what I was hearing was the most fantastic thing I'd ever heard. Definitely worth more ear-time.

Awseome album, and right up my alley. Unique, but raw and just rocks like hell. :) I gotta unearth all my CD's.....I have a bunch of stuff i haven't heard in a long time.

I gotta credit the ex wife with that one. She brought that home once and I just fell in love with it. Had to get my own copy of course. ;) AND Cracker's "Kerosene Hat". GREAT friggin disc....

Since I have the house to myself for roughly a whole half hour...

Anchor Steam and Nickelback Silver Side Up at a ridiculous volume.

Which is fine at the moment 'cause it matches my pi$$ed off mood.

Gonna be one of those nights. :drunk:

I don't know if this is just random coincidence or what not, but this is the first time I noticed this thread. Didn't see it when it started. I'm half way through Mansion on the Hill, Weld version. The dbx's are exercising their 80's era dominance over the bose.
