Hello - looking to do a fresh hop session IPA in the next week or so (the hops are just about ready). I have a pretty good crop of Cascade and one good sized plant with Centennial. Any recommendations on a simple Session IPA with Fresh Hops? I will be doing a 5 gallon all grain batch.

Thanks!

Pick any IPA recipe you fancy, plenty of choice here. Use 5x or 6x the amount of fresh hops compared to a pellet or leaf hops recipe to counteract the water content of fresh ones.

Personally, I'd go for a NEIPA with a ton of whirlpool hops. There are ways to reduce the amount of wort and beer loss due to hop trub... it's called squeezing!

I'm planning the same thing. It's called wet hopping if you don't dry the hops before using. It's supposed to be really good. And yes you are supposed to use more than dry but you only got what you got. I picked 1.2 oz(dry weight) a few weeks ago and I'm waiting on the rest to grow and be ready then I'll try to pick them and put them straight in a boil. I'll probably bitter/ flavor with the hops I already got then wet hop at or near flameout. As far as malts go I'd do your favorite base malt (2 row for me) and maybe a little carapils or caramel 20 if you want some sweetness but the goal (at least for me) is to taste those homegrown hops so I wouldn't use too much specialty malts. You might want it to be kind of dry so you'll taste the hops more. Honestly you could just do base malts only. I also wouldn't make it too high gravity. I'm gonna shoot for a sub 5%
