I want to do some lagers and want to use my chest freezer as a temp controlled fermentation chamber. Is there any temp controllers out there that I can use to control the temps so that the freezer doesnt freeze my creations. Also will need it to be cold enough that the food I store in there dont thaw.

HUH???

You want to ferment lagers AND keep frozen food in the same chest freezer?

If you are serious, a divider might work. IF and I say IF the freezer is not plumbed on all sides with cold coils. That or use a temp controlled duct work setup to route cold air into a separate chamber. That will work only if you can find a way to get the air in and out of the freezer without cutting a cold coil.

Another use of your freezer would be a design which routes cold glycol from a good sized container inside to a radiator in a separate ferment chamber. It would mean a smaller hole in the freezer sides. Just wire a pump for the fluid to a thermostat inside the ferment chamber.

You could use parts for liquid cooling computer CPUs. The radiators are about the right size and the pumps are 12V.

Or like mullenite said, just get another fridge.

Whoa, That is a great Kegerator find. Thanks Samc.

That will work great for a kegerator/ lager ferment chamber, but he unfortunately still wants to keep FROZEN food in there.

I agree with Beer Guy....with any modern chest freezer you are going to have a hard time maintaining lager temp while keeping food frozen. You'd be much better off just buying two chest freezers.
