I am brewing today, and forgot to pull out my Wyeast activator pack out of the fridge. I started the boil and just pulled it out. Only have about 1.5 hrs to pitching. No sure if this will be enough time for viable yeast. Using the german ale yeast in a honey wheat recipe.

If you smack it and get it to pitching temp, you will be fine, if you planned to pitch without making a starter. When the pack swells, all that does is confirm there are viable yeast in the pack.

thats what i thought, just get it to room temp, have it near the boiling pot, not right next to it.

I would warm it in my shirt pocket, rather than anywhere near a hot heat source. Near a heat source there is always the risk of inadvertently cooking the yeast. Cooking the yeast comes under, "Bummer brew day disasters."

Another option would be to delay the pitch by a little bit. Some would argue that waiting to pitch is begging for infection. Others may say that pitching yeast that has had more time to activate will compensate for the lag. Options.

I took it away from the pot, and just set it between me and the arm of my rocker, using my body heat. It swelled up nicely in time for the end of my cool down.
