I have never used a keg berfore and was thinking about force carbing, and I have a few questions before I decide to do it. First off do you all recomend a newbie force carbing, second do you dissolve your carb sugar if you get a kit that comes with it, and what do you think is the best way of doing it?

If you have a CO2 tank there is no need to use priming sugar. Just apply serving pressure to your keg and wait a week then your beer will be ready.

If you are referring to burst carbing (force carbing refers to adding CO2 to the beer in any way), which is setting the gauge at 30psi for a day or so, go for it. When I burst carb I chil the keg for a day or two, then set the gauge at 30psi for a day or so, relieve the pressure, then set the pressure to serving pressure.

And no you do not need to add sugar if you are kegging.

If 5 oz. of sugar is good for 5 gal, 1 oz will work for 1 gal (approx.)

12 oz * 10 bottles = 120 oz

1 gal=128 oz.
