Before I try this, wondering if anyone out there has already tried using helium gas to force-carb a keg of beer? The family BBQ would be hysterical.

How about replacing the nitrogen part of the beer gas with helium and making a squeaky smooth stout?

You'd be using two gases that are virtually incapable of dissolving into beer. If flat = smooth, you'd be in like Flynn...

Cheers!

The only difference would be higher cost. The helium would stay in the headspace and work to push the beer out in the same way nitrogen does in beergas. It wouldn't dissolve in the beer appreciably.

Read it again. He's talking about a beer gas made up of helium and CO2.
