So tonight was my first time kegging a beer. I knew that i was supposed to immediately purge the O2 from the keg with about 5psi but i was so overjoyed at the time that I forgot to do it. Instead I set the regulator to 30psi and opened to valve to let the CO2 in. No more than a minute later i realized my mistake, ran to my kegerator and purged the CO2. Was I too late and already oxygenated my beer?

Nope, no shaking I'm doing the force carb at 30psi for 36 hrs and then dropping it back to serving pressure for a day or two. When I purge the keg to release the extra pressure before i set it down to serving pressure I close off the gas to the keg right?

yes, you want to purge it before resetting your regulator. Otherwise, the pressure will just indicate on your gauge. I don't force carb, causes too many issues for me. I just set it at 12-15 psi and wait two weeks. Clears the beer up too. Good luck!
