I got a non-porn related hand story.

I was up in northern Ontario at one of those fishing lodges, fishing from the shoreline of this hidden lake with my former cousin-in-law.

In order to get to this hidden lake you had to hike a mile or so and there was only two boats there. Well, someone else took the good boat out. The other one did not have a plug so it was inevitable that the thing would eventually sink.

Now up in this part of Ontario it is very swampy. I knew this so I wanted to head back. He insisted on walking the shoreline and fishing.

That plan worked for a couple of minutes, but he slipped. His beer bottle broke. His hand got all cut up. He grabbed the log closest to him and a swarm of hornets attacked.

He screamed.

I saw the bloody hand.

"WTF? Is it a bear?"

Needless to say, he wanted to leave after that.

I said no, because the dude was using my spare rod and reel. I plugged up the leaky boat with a sock and rowed out there.

His job, which he begrudgingly performed was to lean out and grab the rod, because man there's a freaking hornet net's there. I'm not going by that thing.

Anyways, we made it out of there and got back to the lodge.

The hand did not look bad. Just cut up a bit. The lodge owner fixed him up. There was a little bit of swelling, but no big deal. Right?

Well, the swelling doesn't improve and in fact it gets worse. The guy waits 2-3 weeks until he does something about it. He can barely move his hand at this point and he's sweating bullets. The thing is freaking infected and oozing.

Turns out that there was considerable hunk of wood residing in his hand. Doctor removed it and all was well. Unfortunately he had to undergo 4-5 months of therapy to get full movement back.

Yeah. If it looks serious, you better get it checked out. It's not worth the pain and frustration.

I have to say this freaked me out. I stabbed my Left Pinky finger last night cutting some old tubing to bottle an small 2 G cleanup batch. And today I still don't have complete feeling in it. The tip feels like when you're feet go to sleep. Wonder if I should get it checked. It was a very small Puncture. Unfortunately I am NOT kidding. I'd hate to lost a finger. Maybe if feeling isn't back by tomorrow I'll call.

You hit a nerve. The numbness will either fade in a day or two or if you severed the nerve, a long long time. If it worries you, go to the doctor.

Sorry for the bump. I saw it appear on the bottom when I was searching about something else. I did not notice the date. Anyways it freaked me out.:mug:

Infection usually means a trip to the doctors.

I have stopped a number of decent sized cuts on my fingers with elmer's glue though.

It would behoove me to check post dates and read the whole thing before assuming I'm commenting on a recent thread.

I'm going back to hide under my rock now.

Now that is funny right there.

Okay, I AM KIDDING.

I had to fukc with Pumbaa and Orph, as they were the ones that were giving me a hard time about it....LOL, I'm a dick, but I was over here laughing my a$$ off.

I wanted Pumbaa and Orpheus to see it and say I told you so. I got that. LOL.

The finger is fine, healing nicely. I cringe a little bit if I accidentally bump it, but it certainly looks better than it did Friday night. :)

Sorry............
I'm glad I kept on reading through this thread and found this, I was about to tell a few people they were complete assh***s for the things they said.

My wife had bunions amputated about 5 years ago. Apparently the docs cut a nerve, because she's never regained feeling in a couple of her toes. And, dammit, I don't remember where the surgery scars are, so I can't say which toes.

You could tell by jabbing a needle in her toes. If she flinches then castrates you, it wasn't that toe.
