Flow meter for water

I'm afraid it won't be very accurate with the very low flow rate you'd get from a tap. Lots of inertia in the mechanical bits.
Anyway, it never turns itself off (you actually have to remove the batteries as there's no power switch) and it does not remember the prior amount if you do turn it off. No idea on battery life as I remove the batteries after each use as I only need the flow rate and not the flow amount, although it's nice to know how much wort has circulated cumulatively after a full mash schedule with a RIMS system.

Any reason the aliexpress flow meter would not work to measure keg output? I'm thinking of putting this meter inline with each tap to measure how much is left in each keg, or at least get me close. Nothing worse than pulling the tap handle and being surprised it is empty, which seems to be happening a lot lately.

Does it turn off automatically and if so, does it remember the prior flow amount? Any info on battery life would be appreciated too.

To turn it off you'll have to remove the batteries as there's no switch. I'm not aware of any calibration function, you'll have to do it the old fashioned way with paper and a pen or for a more high-tech version with a spreadsheet.

fwiw, a comment on the linked Aliexpress page indicates there may be a hidden calibration function.
I'd try pressing and holding various buttons or combinations and see if anything pops up...

I saw that too, which is why I asked.
I don't have it in front of me but there's a thing called "k setting" that defaults to 10 L and I have no idea what that could be.

That's just a proportional factor for configuring different flow meters that might give a different number of pulses for a given unit of volume. I'll check to see what I have on my meter as soon as I have the chance.

Can you not just weigh your sparge water heater/keg? 1L = 1kg, so it’s a pretty straightforward conversion. There’s also a plaato product about to be released which sits under your keg and works in exactly this way to tell you how much beer you have left in your keg. I’m sure it could work for sparge water too.
