Well.. to find the fix you obviously have to fail. My digital therm slipped onto the wort on my last batch :smack: and suddenly it was 349'F in the house. My solution water got in during the boil, so I'll boil it back out. With the wire end out of the water I boiled for 12 mins (YMMV) on the stove top in boiling water was enough to remove the moisture from the probe and its now working perfectly again. Checked for Accuracy with a cup of ice water vs the boiling water Hope this helps someone else in future.:beard:
 
I'd say soak it in distilled water for a day or so, then place it in a ziplock bag full or rice. You want that sugary wart to go into solution, so swirl it about if you have to, and put it in a fresh cup of distilled water after a day or so and a swirl.
 
Bag dry rice works for taking moisture out of electronics. Dry oatmeal sometimes works too.

I also keep a ziplock of those dessicant pouches in case my phone decides to take another swim
