Hello - I bottled my first batch over the weekend, and was pretty happy with the process. The most difficult part though, was fitting the tube onto the spigot of my bottling bucket.

It took us a good half hour of trying to heat it in hot water and stretching it over the spigot. I ended up slicing a quarter inch up to the tube to make it a little more stretchable.

Of course the bucket was full of beer for this entire period, which meant that beer was leaking while I struggled to get the tube onto the spigot.

Is there a good way to fit the tube onto the bottling bucket spigot?

Are you talking about having to split the tube of your bottling wand? Or are you talking about using a piece of hose as a bridge connector?

When I came up with that years ago, I just used a one inch piece of the original hose that came with the bottling wand in my kit.

It's just a 1 inch piece of hose and I use a couple clips just to insure that it connects.

Does anyone have a close up pic of the brige connector from their setups?

I showed it in my bottling video, but I need some lights to brighten the room. I just used the Italian spigot many use on here with a 3/8" hose I got a 10' roll of from homer cheapo. You start putting the tube on the spout at an angle as you push & wiggle slightly. Goes on quick & tight. Maybe your tubing is smaller than 3/8"? It's 4-5' long,& I connect my fermtech bottling wand to the other end. No clamps & it seals tight.

Thanks for the replies. I didn't split the filling tube. What I did was cut a slice in the end of the hose so that I could wrap it around the spigot and try to get it to attach. Was a lot of trouble keeping it sanitized as I wrestled with it.

I'm off to home depot to look for a slightly larger diameter hose. I love the idea of attaching the wand directly to the spigot. Sounds like a good goal for today.
