Planning to brew this up next week as a gift for my buddy's recent marriage -- Would be interested to hear feedback or suggestions, etc., particularly relating to the Treacle, as this will be my first time using this ingredient.

16# Maris Otter
10 oz Crystal 60
4 oz Chocolate
8 oz Black Treacle (late addition)

4 oz EKG (90)
2 oz Fuggles (90)

Mash at 152F / 1.33 qt/lb

Brewed up an Ordinary Bitter as a starter beer earlier this week, using WLP023. Will plan to ferment at 68-70F, leave it in primary for about a month, and then bulk age it for another 6 months or so (or as long as I can wait).

Recipe looks good, UK black treacle is pretty much the same as blackstrap molasses although the flavor is a bit different. Expect more dark rum-raisin and plummy flavors than regular molasses. I take it this is for a strong-brown ale or old ale?

Precisely -- an old ale.

I like a bit of those dark fruit / raisiny flavors that one gets from the darker crystals or Special B, and was hoping to get that from the treacle and aging -- thanks for confirming that!
