first time brewing

So I've been reading this website for some time and taking notes. So I finally decided to brew all grain using biab. Everything went smoothly and didn't have any problems controlling temp with the reflective insulation. Can't wait to try out this cream ale.

I have a question about water in the airlock? What happens if some of the water gets sucked into the wort? (Brewed this a last week from truebrew kit)

Also what is the correct way to get a gravity measurement?

Prob no biggie with water in the airlock. Try clear hard liqueur instead to be safe. Also make sure the liquid is room temp when you put the airlock on or it could reverse as you described.

There are a lot of good videos on hydrometer usage. Go to youtube and type hydrometer. You need to spin it in a free solution to get the bubbles off.
