So with some helpful advice from yooper I have started my water chem journey

here is my recipe:

5.5G APA
10# 2-row
12oz C60
8oz Carapils

Hopped to 40 IBUs
with Amarillo and Simcoe

I have taken a stab at using TH's Spreadsheet and this is what I have Come up with:

This page can be used for copying and pasting

Starting Water (ppm):
Ca: 60
Mg: 3
Na: 11.5
Cl: 16.1
SO4: 21.8
CaCO3: 140

Mash / Sparge Vol (gal): 3.5 / 5.5
RO or distilled %: 50% / 50%

Total Grain (lb): 11.3

Adjustments (grams) Mash / Boil Kettle:
CaSO4: 4 / 6.285714286
CaCl2: 1 / 1.571428571
MgSO4: 2 / 3.142857143
NaHCO3: 0 / 0
CaCO3: 0 / 0
Lactic Acid (ml): 0
Sauermalz (oz): 3.5

Mash Water / Total water (ppm):
Ca: 119 / 119
Mg: 16 / 16
Na: 6 / 6
Cl: 44 / 44
SO4: 238 / 238
Cl to SO4 Ratio: 0.19 / 0.19

Alkalinity (CaCO3): -138
RA: -232
Estimated pH: 5.40
(room temp)

My intended Profile Was Randy Moshers cutting back on the SO4:
Ca 110
Mg 18
Na 17
Cl 50
SO4 250ish

Does this look anywhere close? I really feel like Im shooting In the dark:drunk:

Read the "primer" thread in the water forum. Then use the Bru'un Water spreadsheet if you still feel the need to tweak further. Don't over-stress water adjustments you first time considering them. RDWHAHB.
