My next batch will be the Grapefruit Pulpin 5 gallon extract kit from NB.

I need some help making some decisions based on the hopping schedule and whether or not to use a secondary for this one. I know it's not necessary but I want to maximize the grapefruit peel slurry and hop flavors.

The hopping schedule for this is:

0.5 oz Chinook (60 min)
0.5 oz Cascade, 0.5 oz Chinook (20 min)
0.5 oz Cascade, 0.5 oz Chinook (5 min)
1 oz Amarillo, 0.5 oz Chinook (0 min - end of boil)

The changes I'm making and want some advice on it is do the boil for 45 minutes instead of 60. Add 1/3rd of the LME for the full 45 minutes and the other 2/3rds with 5 minutes left in the boil. I will do a full volume boil but want to keep this a lighter colored brew.

My hop additions would be changed to this
0.5 oz Chinook (45 min)
0.5 oz Cascade, 0.5 oz Chinook (15 min)
0.5 oz Cascade, 1 oz Chinook,1 oz Amarillo, (Cool wort to about 200F and steep for 15 minutes, then start wort chiller)

My hopes are to greatly increase hop aroma and citrus notes to appeal to the people I know that aren't huge hop heads. Secondly, by increasing hop aroma I'm hoping it will help combat the effects oxidation has on hop presence.

Does this seem like a reasonable thought process?

Second question regarding secondary, I know there is not a right way or wrong way to do this. However if my goal is to get as much grapefruit flavor and hop aroma as possible will a secondary help achieve this?

Thanks for all the advice
