Hey everyone, new to GF brewing, 5 extract batches, and 4 AG batches in otherwise.

My question relates to this recipe I found
http://www.glutenfreehomebrewing.org/showrecipe.php?recipeid=95

Ive got the majority of the ingredients already...my question is in regards to the boil. All my extract brews were about 3 gallon boils and then top off to 5 gallons. Would this be the same idea?

Lastly, has anyone made this before? Im making it for my aunt and im hoping its decent....the ingredients werent as wallet friendly as AG:p

This recipe is interesting because they add the sorghum and buckwheat honey at flameout, but they boil the brown rice syrup and candi syrup for 60 minutes. I've been wondering if there's a consensus on this forum that sorghum and honey should be added at the end.

You should be able to do 3 gallons and top off with 5 just like gluten-full brewing. But considering the experimental nature of our GF brews, I am a fan of doing 3 gallon batches. If your brew pot is 5 gallon, you can start with 4 gallons of water for a full boil.

I think you will find most people add sorghum late in the boil to help reduce the "twang".

Definitely add the honey at the end of the boil.
Honey denaturalizes at high temperatures, losing many of its flavours. I make a rather nice buckwheat honey porter, and I always add that honey at the very end of the boil. Just make sure to stir it enough so it dissolves well before the must cools too much.
