So, I have keg'd the first ESB that I have brewed. It features 2-row, Aromatic, Belgian biscuit, crystal 60, and Marris Otter With Challenger for bittering and EKG for flavor.
However, it is missing the aromatic hops (intentionally). I made this recipe for my brothers party, while emulating a local brewhouse that has an ESB with no-dry hopping.
It is WONDERFUL!!!! do not get me wrong... but since I brewed this batch trying to copy cat a local ESB, my brother presented me with a similar ESB bottled that is DEFINITELY dry hopp'd (light and pleasant aroma). He really likes this beer.
I see NOTHING wrong with switching gears feeling that this beer can only get better with a little dry hopping. If it was an IPA, I would feel an ounce dry hopp'd would do the trick.
Would you recommend 1/2 ounce of Cascade to give it a light citrusy hop aroma? The goal is to please him on this batch-- and I will drink the hell out of it regardless--- therefore no penalty if we mess up with the hop additions.
Your input greatly appreciated.
