I don't know what normal is, but I have heard of people using this yeast (wlp007) and it coming down into the teens in three days. Here I am the better part of a week in and its only half fermented. Is this normal? It was a big beer to start with, but I chose what I thought was an agressive yeast and made a 2 liter starter on a stir plate. Somebody please tell me they have had this happen and it finished after another week. The fermentation is still coming right along but is definitely slowing down.

Your beer is a surly teenager. It wants to be left alone. Forty points drop in 5 days is exceedingly normal, so no need to second guess it.

There's nothing wrong with a big beer taking a few weeks to come down. Yeast can't read, so instructions really mean nothing to them. They have their own timeframe and it's usually different than ours. There's nothing wrong, except you're impatient.

Ok ok alright! Thanks for the reassurance :) I was getting all geared up to pitch *snicker*
