Did my first AG batch last weekend and I have to say that it has been a complete success up til now...... Used Jamil's Amber Ale recipe and worked it down to 5 Gal. from 6. Also wound up adding an extra 1/2 ounce of Cascade to the bittering hops addition, but I'm not complaining as I don't think it will have any impact on the final product. (That 1/2 oz was supposed to go in my next batch, but I'll happily replace it with a 1/2 oz of Magnum that I've got left over from this batch.)

1. First full boil....kept a slow sparge into my pot to keep it full.

2. Hit 80% effenciency -- oops. based my recipe on 70% when I worked it down to 5Gal - wound up having 5.5 Gal a 1.064 when I was aiming for 1.056, but I'm not complaining there either. Hopefully I can dial this in over my next few batches.

3. Tasted damn good when I took a hydro reading tonight.

I love my new hobby.
