Hi - first post for me. I'm in central Iowa, near Des Moines.

Okay, just like a lot of you, I've been thinking of brewing for quite a while. My lovely wife got me a starter's kit for my birthday, so it's time to give it a shot. I'm a big fan of very hoppy ales, so we'll try that first. If it works out, I've got lots of other plans to try........hope to learn a lot from the forum.

Just about any beer problem can be solved by excessive dry hopping with Cascades.

Yeah, one of my favorite brews is from Bent River brewing in Moline, Illinois: their dry-hopped pale is outstanding. I'm hoping to eventually figure out a similar recipe, as I don't get there as often as I'd like. I just tried Three Floyds Alpha King yesterday, and it was in the same vein as well. Mmmmmm.....hops......
