Does anyone know how of any inexpensive product that can be used to fill external scratches on glass carboys to prevent them from becoming cracks later? Appearance doesn't really matter. Thank you.

I'd be careful when carrying them full, and use a web sling carrier. You wouldn't want one of them to crack while you are hugging it to your body. Knock on wood, but I have never had one crack, but I have seen threads with some pretty horrific injuries sustained when one did decide to break.

How deep is the scratch? Your best bet would be to sand the scratch out and then polish it.
