Been waiting a bit to try more of their beers before posting in here but Roaring Table in Lake Zurich is doing great things. Solid NEIPA, great oatmeal stout, schwarzbier, fruited sour, etc. Def worth checking out..
Got to try an early pull from their foeder which is aging a Saison, tasted great - nice amount of funk, not too sour, almost reminded me of a Hill saison.

Check it out if you are in the area

Anyone in line yet for that pastry stout release at Beer Temple?
cc: middlebrow
I’m at my mother in laws birthday dinner, Pete’s meeting with an investor and Bryan’s sitting getting drunk at BT...hell even the majority of middle brow aka contracting brewings cademon couldn’t be bothered on a Tuesday. But Transient dropped some stuff people give a **** about so stop on by.

My wife had some North/Clybourn shopping to do after work yesterday so I took the opportunity to be a good husband by picking her up almost entirely so I could visit Mousetrap. The design of the place is great...Eater's pics are much better than I could have taken. Got there at about 6:15 and the place was poppin. It seemed like there were a lot of post-work happy hour type groups. I was able to get us the only 2 available spots in the place at the standing long table (which isn't really pictured well in the Eater write-up). I think all drinks are ordered from the bar, which was quick and efficient, but I saw some people closing out tabs at tables....though we never had a server come to us over a couple rounds.

Pictures of the menu are below. Yeah, prices for bottles are high...but saw a few people drinking them. I think the prices for the more standard beers are fair, especially for the area, but some of the specialty beers get a bit pricey. We had Tooth & Claw, Aqua Predator, Eille, and Qing Ming and they were all tasting great. I don't think it will be a regular stop for me at all (mostly because I hate the traffic around that area and it's not the most bike-friendly part of the city), but would definitely take guests there and stop in when shopping over there. There are a handful of parking spots out front. They will do fine without my regular business, that's for sure.

I half want Off Color to brand up some ridiculous IPA glasses like this but never sell them Just say "coming soon" on the webshop or something...

Great call. Russian River does that with a beer called Procrastination which has been on their board for like a decade. As i type that, I realized that Off Color has a beer called Procatstination.

KNOWN GNOME Release Party
Tuesday, November 14

Score! Another dark, roasty beverage in 4-packs. Here's the scoop on our new Porter brewed with bark and roots:
Known Gnome is a throwback to when old timey porter brewers tried to avoid paying hop taxes by (illegally) using quassia as a hop substitute. The bark of quassia came into fashion in the early 19th century as a bitter tonic in herbal medicine.

Known Gnome also gets its unusual sweetness from licorice root and the naturally contained chemical glycyrrhizic acid which is 50 times sweeter tasting than sucrose.

And, yes, the gnome has a name. It's Alfie. And while we don't expect them to show on Tuesday, we'll certainly be having one (or ten) in their honor.

6.7% abv. To Go: $8/4-packs to go. Draft: $5/8oz, $7/13oz
