Honestly, what happened to El Pistolero?

Who pissed him off?

I mean, he was a mod on here, he was totally into brewing, went all-grain, had everything going for him, and then disappeared like a fart in the wind.

I know a he rubbed a few people the wrong way, but who drove him out?

Let's hear it.

I have no idea what has pulled him away from here, but he's not totally gone. He checks in every now and then.

Perhaps his life just took a turn and he doesn't have time for the lot of us right now.

I suspect he'll be back sometime in the future.

Maybe he found a new passion. Or someone ticked him off. Either way, I hope he didn't go off half cocked somewhere. :D

Have you looked at his profile lately?

That's only a couple of weeks ago...unless he died.

I always wondered if someone did expire how would we know about it?

I'm sure our wives and/or husbands would not be logging on to inform the forum...mine wouldn't anyway.

I'd look at his profile every once in a while and he is still lurking. Still is wierd though the way he used to chatter here. I liked his dry sense of humor and would think it'd take more than just some marine or similar to knock him outta here.

Last post was in October, during the playoffs.

Seriously, though, odds are that someone who is a member has died since they've joined. Maybe not someone who posted a lot, but someone. I'm sure my wife would log on and say something, but that's probably uncommon.

not that uncommon. When I was playing EQ every now and again you would hear someone died and then find a post from thier family member. Infact when my brother in law died Christmas of 05 I logged his toon on to inform some of his friends and posted on the servers website

I put that in my will already. :D

On the eHowTo board, there was a nice section about how to make sure your online friends know. Basically, make an informal will, one that your SWMBO or best friend knows about. Include your usernames, passwords, and favorite forums or games and ask that they log in to let everyone know. Make sure there's a list of your favorite online friends so they can be PM'd if there's any personal messages you'd like to convey. On the Adobe forums, a mod recently passed away and his SWMBO logged in from his account to let everyone know.

As for ElP, I've PM'd him a few times but never got a reply. Part of me thinks he's the_bird, since ElP was our resident post-whore prior to bird's arrival.

Here's a q: when you die, who gets your brew equipment?

El Pistolero logged on in the last few weeks. I spotted it at the time - as the bird said 'Last Activity: 01-10-2007 04:03 PM'- I checked his profile and he was in 'private messages' and quickly went.

He seemed to be trying to get a 'cooking forum' together (I found it via his own site) around the time he when AWOL - It never seemed to 'go live' onto search engines though so it only had a couple of posts last time I checked.

I had a love/hate thing with the ol'grumpolero (I actually started to love him - he still hated me). Many others had the same feeling too.

If he told the truth (I have nothing to doubt he didn't of course) he was only born about twenty miles from Orfy's house and about forty miles from where I was born - he's as US as Cheyco is Canadian! El Pistolero is 'partially' English:D
We got Orfy back (thankfully!):mug:

I also want El P back - but I doubt we will.....:(

Well, we all knew he was in limbo with his looming divorce and new occupational changes. He at least let us know he'd be AWOL until he figured things out.
Yeah, I guess he went back to his old position which he really didn't like very much. I just thought by now he'd have popped in. Maybe he gave up brewing altogether?

I thought El P was full bore with brewing, AG, etc., so it's even stranger he dropped out.

Perhaps he was kidnapped by gypsies and taken across the river? I always liked him. Between him and Sudster, I had many a good drunken evening here. El P. had a twisted sense of humor that I thoroughly enjoyed. Didn't know he was dealing with a divorce. I know he had some little ones at home. That seems to complicate things and make dealing with it harder.
Wherever he is, I wish him the best.

I read this as DeRoux is going through a divorce, not El P. I didn't even know that DeRoux was going through a divorce, though. I thought he was just tied up with the new job.

Hope all is well.

I told them Jezus was looking for them and they went away. Maybe I should keep my mouth shut. Or maybe it is my karma, people tend to go away when I am around. Think about it. Don't you feel the same? Ohno! Here comes that preacher dude, I think I will go see what is on the Green Board. If you are thinking of becoming a brewpastor, forget it! There are no friends in it.
