I made an IIPA with a SG of 1070.
I used CA V yeast that I washed from a previous brew.
When I washed the yeast, I ended up with 6oz mason jars with about half an inch of the stuff on the bottom.
I warmed up the mason jars of yeast to room temp, decanted the beer, and pitched into the IIPA.
I did not use the washed yeast to make a starter...
It's been 20 days in primary and I seem to be stuck at 1030.

So what went wrong? What should I do to finish this beer? What should I do next time!

TIA you homebrew wizards!

Was this an all grain batch or extract? What were your ingredients? Temps and times?

6lbs pale liquid extract
3lbs wheat liquid extract
2lbs DME light
.75lbs carapils
.5 crystal 10
.5 crystal 60
90 min simcoe
30 mins simco and citra
15 mins citra and simcoe
0 citra and willamette

put into primary, pitched at 75 degrees... used 4 x 6oz mason jars with about 0.3inches of yeast/trub from washed yeast. SG: 1080...

after 3 weeks, SG stuck at 1030.
target final gravity = 1020.

Temperature has been OK. about 50-60 at night, 70-80 during the day.

I am guessing that the temp swings may be the cause. If you get too low at night it may slow the yeast down. Give it some more time.

I am sure that someone wil chime inwith the extract 1.020 curse but I think that is BS. If you do everything right extract brews will not quit at 1.020.

If your beer is stuck it is some other reason. Did you aerate it well? Try to find a way to regulate the temp so it does not cool down too much at night. A swamp cooler will not get too warm or cool off to quickly. The water will keep the temp swing in check.
