I brewed a brewers best white IPA 14 days ago. Originally I was going to ferment for 2 to 3 weeks and then bottle it from primary. On day 12 I decided to dump the collection ball clean and sanitize and then reinstalled it. Should I wait to hit the 3 week mark or just bottle it?

Just want to bump in here with you. I started a Gumball head clone in the catalyst conical. Wondering the same thing. I thought someone had somewhere they dumped on the first week?

I've found that with the fastferment, I needed to dump after about a week. But it came down to the amount that was in the collection ball. Don't let the ball get full where the trube backs up into the cone. It can compact in the base of the cone and become a challenge getting it to clear.

Kene64, gave some good advice. I brewed a Witbier that needed the ball changed twice in 10 days and I still got a clog (waited to long on first ball pull). I have also done an Irish Red ale that I only had to pull once after about 3-4 days.

I haven't tried it yet, but others will pull ball a few hours after they pour in the wort and before the pitch the yeast.

Just finished a Grapefruit IPA using my Catalyst for the first time. I found I had to trub dump at least three times... 1 week after Primary, 1 week into secondary (at dry hopping), and a final dump before kegging. Also found that the 16 oz. mason jar included isn't even close to enough. Used a 32 for the second and third dumps and that worked great.
