I always set my primary in a water bath. In the Winter I have an aquarium heater hooked up to keep the temps up, and in the Summer, I use ice to keep it cool, if necessary.

This morning, however, I found that the Rubbermaid-Tub water bath is also the perfect moat to protect my precious beer from the onslaught of ANTS! Yes, with the first warm wave this Spring the ants have found a way into our basement (as they do every year). Their attempt to get to my sweet wort was foiled, however, by the water bath that my primary is sitting in. :rockin:

Off to get my traps today, since we have a set routine in the Spring that keeps the ants out of the house for the rest of the warm weather. I'm glad I had the moat, however, because the though of ants finding a way under the seal of my primary lid gives me the willies!
