Perhaps unexpectedly, two xBmts have produced results suggesting fermentation vessel has a qualitative impact on beer. Some have theorized the actual material is responsible for the character difference, while others have posited some other factor is at play, such as the amount of oxygen the fermentor allows into the beer. For this xBmt, we fermented the same IPA in a glass carboy and a stainless steel bucket, both notably impermeable to oxygen, and had blind tasters compare them. Results are in!
