greetings all this was my first batch and I used a lock. The plug blew off and it went on the floor. At least 8 hours had past before I discovered it. What I need to know is the batch ruined? I cleaned the stopper and the lock and replaced...but if its ruined I need to start again.:(
 
no sweat at all. Let it continue until it settles a bit, clean up and pop the air lock back on.
 
Set up a blow off tube at the start of EVERY fermentation. Even when using Ferm-cap. It beats the hell out of cleaning krausen off the ceiling!
