Is it possible to cool a highly insulated fermentation chamber down to lagering temperature using a window AC unit. THe chamber will be aproximatly 4X4X7
If so what size of unit would I need?

Yes but you will need to modify the A/C unit compressor to be controlled by an external controller such as a TC-9201S-HV or STC-1000. Leave main A/C controls and A/C fan always powered up and NOT part of the controller. Or spend $320 on a CoolBot.

Yes it is...here's mine using an STC-1000 controller and a $99 unit from Lowe's. It's been running for 2 years now. I have a couple small PC fans that fun continuously in the return ducting that keeps my coils from freezing.

My unit is divided into 3 sections with flow holes between them. I get 3 good temperature ranges this way and can easily lager. Using a second controller and a FermWrap, I can ferment an ale at 68F right next to a lager at 54F.
