I have a couple of these 9gal HDPE containers to convert to fermentation vessels. Has anyone else used one of these and did you add a fermentation lock or blow off tube? In either case, I would like to maintain a seal, so I need to find a small gasket of some sort for the hole that will probably be drilled into the lid.

I have something similiar to this except it is 15g. I use a regular universal stopper. I just put a hole in the top so the universal stopper would fit in. Love these containers. Actualy, I like them so much I use them over a conical most of the time.

Ahh, I didn't even think about a stopper. I could use an airlock or a blow off tube with a stopper. Thanks drez.

rubber grommets are great for this.... if you drill the hole the right size that is (but if you mess that up you can always enlarge it to stopper size)

Ace hardware's random screw and bolt aisle has those grommets in a boat load of different sizes.

Thanks, I can also get them from brewmasterswarehouse.com with my next order.

That's where I've always got them! and it's across the street from my LHBS (who I think sells them too)
