Hello,
I brewed a Black IPA on the 4th of July and have recently cracked open some bottles with a few friends.
primary - 3 weeks
dryhop - 12 days
have been in bottles ever since. I used clove honey to prime and added too much I believe. Ridiculous foaming action, out of a .5L bottle I had about 3/4 of it erupt. Aside from that, the beer tastes pretty decent.
We are in Germany and the staple out here in Bavaria is hefe and dunkles, and most people are experienced with corona and bud light. Being new to brewing, I don't have the refined palette like most brewers do and was curious to know how people educate novice beer drinkers, keeping in mind I don't know much about it either. Most of my knowledge about beer is walking around Portland, OR and repeating "that is good beer" when stopping in a bar. One guy said the IPA was too bitter from the yeast. I don't think that feedback like that is very helpful.
