Hi All, Been home brewing all grain for 3 years now.. Just getting into water chemistry. Just wondering how my water report looks for brewing. Seem to be low on sodium, sulfaes, and Chloride. Any feed back is much appreciated.

PPM

Sodium, NA 43
Potassium, k 3
Calcium, CA 22
Magnesium, MG 4
Total Hardness, CaCo3 72
Nitrate, NO3-N 0.6 (safe)
Sulfate, SO4S 7
Chloride, CL 69
Carbonate, CO3 < 1.0
Bicarbonate, HCO2 37
Total Alkalinity, CacO2 30

Excellent water! In my opinion you will need to fortify it with a bit of added calcium. 1.5 grams of gypsum and 1 grams of calcium chloride (as the dihydrate form) per every 5 gallons of your mash water would be what I would try first. I would leave your water "as is" for the sparge, with only the addition of acidification to pH 5.5.

Awesome feed back! That simplifies things for me @ silver is Money!

pH?

That's some good base water. Be aware that your Sodium is already reasonably high (along with chloride - there must be a source of Sodium chloride....coastal?). If you need to add carbonates (i.e. for dark beers, to stop the pH dropping too low) be careful with bicarb soda additions, as they will add more Sodium.
