I have one of those bayou classic standing false bottoms in my different brand kettle that I will be using as MLT, there is about a 1/4 inch space between the edge of the false bottom and kettle wall all the way around. Is this going to cause any issues? If it would, is there anything I can do inexpensively bridge the gap? thanks.

If the grain bed will not settle around the edge then yes it will be a problem. Wort will take the path of least resistance... If it can just cascade down the sides of the kettle it will take that path and bring along husk with it. I would problem experiment with a few lbs of crushed grains before mashing all the grain for a single batch.

I long piece of stainless steel braid. I am going to put it in a tie the ends to make a circle the same circumference as the inside of the kettle and it should sit right on top of the gap and block the gap.
