Had a question as I was looking at the false bottom of my 5 Galloon Igloo Mash Tun - The Hex nut screws on to the elbow, but isn't attached to the actual false bottom at all.

Is it enough just to have it pressed against it? Does it have to be very tight? My false bottom moves around a little if you push it, just wondering if that's normal.

Cheers,

Jack

Normal. I've got the same setup, and other than putting a seal around the the outer edge of the false bottom, there's not much you can do to keep it "rigid". I haven't really noticed any negatives with this setup. Vourlof for a few qts and it's running clear.

How are you connecting the elbow to the drain valve? Short piece of hose? I know some people change this out for a piece of copper/SS tubing and that will hold it a bit more rigid.
